The chicken dung trade in Benguet has been tainted with corruption as the government probes the collection of parking fees for chicken dung traders.
Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso has asked the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate the issue. It was alleged that part of the parking fees collected are being diverted to the provincial board members.
“This body lacks knowledge sufficient to form a belief as to the truth of such allegation. Hence, an independent task force is necessary to investigate such allegation and to eventually clear everybody, who is allegedly benefiting from such payola,” the board resolution states.
The request is done to clear the provincial board’s name, says the governor.
